TANGRA
is the name of the old Bulgarians' God, symbolizing the philosophical
trinity of the notions Tan (Universe),
Nak (Man) and Ra
(God). This was one of the earliest expressions of human understanding
of the world's unity and harmony. Tangra
is one of the earliest religious and cultural beliefs in the
history of mankind. The ancient Bulgarians came from the Valleys
of the Pamir mountain and the neighbouring Valley of Tarim
situated between Tian Shan and the north side of Tibet from
where their dispersion began to other parts of the world.
Ferdinand von Richthofen (1833 - 1905) considers the Valley
of Pamir and Tarim to be the center of the first civilization. In
Pamir they organized their earliest states - the ancient Balgar
and Balhara. In Europe the Bulgarians founded three more states
- Bulgaria under khan Kubrat, Bulgaria on Volga river, Bulgaria
of today, founded by the great khan Asparouh on the Danube
river. The ancient Bulgarians bequeathed to the world rich
cultural heritage: concerning the philosophical perception
of the world, social organization, art of war, literature,
linguistic culture, construction-building, astronomy and mathematics.
UNESCO recognizes the ancient
Bulgarians' calendar as the most precise of all calendars
known so far.

On
the Balkans the powerful Bulgarian state system united with
the ancient Thracian ethnos and
the Slavonic tribes and led them
in a decisive march against the successors of the Roman Empire,
Byzantium and the Kingdom of the Franks. A
third empire in Europe came into existence on the crossroad
between Europe, Asia and Africa. This is Bulgaria
of today.
